Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and Carolina Ordonez Hoyos ("Skinory", "we") for using the Skinory app. By creating an account you accept them. The short version: Skinory helps you track and understand your skin, it is not a doctor, your data is yours, and you can leave whenever you want.

1. What Skinory is, and is not

Skinory is a tracking and pattern-finding tool. It records what you tell it about your skin, habits, products, treatments and cycle, shows you patterns in that data, lets you ask an AI assistant (Nory) about it, and prepares a report you can show a doctor.

Skinory is not a medical service. Nothing in the app, in Nory's replies, in Insights or in the doctor report is a diagnosis, a prescription, or medical advice, and none of it replaces a dermatologist or any other healthcare professional. Patterns Skinory finds are correlations in your own data, not proof of cause. Ingredient flags are based on published comedogenicity scales and say nothing about how your skin will react. Always talk to a professional before starting, stopping or changing a treatment or medication, and go to a doctor straight away if something looks or feels wrong. Skinory does not provide emergency services.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 16 years old. In Colombia, if you are under 18 you need a parent's or guardian's authorization.
• Give us a real email address and keep your password to yourself. What happens in your account is your responsibility until you tell us it has been compromised.
• One account per person. Skinory is built around one body's data.
• You can delete your account at any time from Settings. It takes effect immediately, as the Privacy Policy describes.

3. Your data

Everything you put into Skinory stays yours. You give us the permission we need to store it, process it and show it back to you, as set out in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms. We use it only for what that policy describes. Using it, de-identified, for skin research and new Skinory products is a separate choice that is off unless you turn it on, in the app or in Settings. We never sell it. We never give it to outside companies to train their AI models, and your photos are never used to train any model. Skinory's own models learn only from de-identified data of people who turned research on.

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you log. Nory, Insights and the doctor report are only as good as the data behind them.

4. Nory

Nory is a large language model prompted with your data. She is designed to stay within skin care, to be careful about pregnancy, and to point you to a professional, but she can be wrong, out of date, or miss something important. You use her answers at your own judgment. Free accounts can send Nory a limited number of messages per day; the current limit is shown in the app.

5. Subscriptions

• Some features need a paid subscription ("Skinory Plus" or whatever the app names it at the time). Prices, what is included and the billing period are shown in the app before you buy.
• Purchases are made through Apple's App Store or Google Play and are governed by their terms as well as these. Payment is charged to your store account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in your store's subscription settings, not inside Skinory.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. We cannot issue refunds ourselves for store purchases.
• Founding-member or other introductory prices apply for as long as the subscription stays active without interruption.
• If you delete your account, cancel your subscription first; deleting the account does not cancel the store subscription.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use Skinory to harm anyone, to upload content that is not yours or not about you, to probe or disrupt our systems, to scrape or copy the service, or to do anything illegal. Do not try to get Nory to act outside her purpose. We may suspend or close accounts that do these things.

7. Our content and your feedback

The app, its design, text, code and the Skinory name belong to us or our licensors. You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own, under these terms. If you send us ideas or feedback, we can use them without owing you anything, and we will not claim they were ours.

8. Changes to the service

Skinory is young and will change. We may add, change or remove features, and we may stop offering the service altogether. If we shut down, we will give you at least 30 days' notice in the app and a way to export your data first.

9. Availability and warranties

We work to keep Skinory running and accurate but cannot promise it will always be available, error-free or fit for any particular purpose. The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Skinory is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from decisions you make based on the app, Nory, Insights or the report. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or 50 USD if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

11. Termination

You can stop using Skinory and delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, with notice where practical. Sections 3, 7, 9, 10 and 12 survive termination.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Colombia, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection you have where you live. If we have a dispute, write to us first at hello@skinory.app and we will try to sort it out within 30 days. Failing that, the courts of Envigado, Colombia have jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you the right to go to your local courts.

13. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app at least 14 days before the change applies. Continuing to use Skinory after that date means you accept the new terms; if you do not, delete your account before then.
