Products and the ingredient scanner
Adding what you use, scanning a label, and reading the flags.
Updated October 2026
Adding a product
Profile → Products → Add. Name, brand, category, when you started, and a status: using now, tried and stopped, or want to try. The free plan holds 10 products typed by hand.
Scanning a label (Premium)
Point the camera at the ingredient list, even in the store. The photo is read once, the text is extracted, and the photo is deleted immediately. Nothing from the label is stored except the ingredient list you confirm and save. You can also paste a list from a website.
What the flags mean
- Comedogenic: on the list of ingredients that clog pores for many people.
- Moderate: can clog pores for some people, usually at higher concentrations.
- Pregnancy: flagged when pregnancy-safe mode is on and the ingredient is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
A flag is a scale for many people, not a prediction about you. Plenty of people use a product with a flagged ingredient without trouble; the point is to know what to suspect first when a breakout follows a new product.
Stopping a product
Set the status to "tried and stopped" and write why. Stopped products go to the graveyard, which Nory and the report read so nothing gets suggested twice.
Still stuck? Write to hello@skinory.app. A human replies, usually within two working days.
